OUR STORY
A group serving responsible freight transport
The story of the Open Modal Group begins in 1943 in Montpellier with the creation of Brunier Transports by Jean Brunier, a road freight carrier, which became TAB Transport Auto Brunier in 1962.
In 1978, Jean-Claude Brunier took over the family business with one clear idea in mind: to develop combined rail-road transport.
In the 2000s, his children Antonin, Clémence and Jeanne joined the company, becoming the third generation to enter the business.

- AN OBJECTIVE AND A STRATEGY
- To develop sustainable long-distance transport through a unique strategy of integrating the links of the Combined Rail-Road Transport chain in order to ensure a highly high-quality level of service.
- 1943
- Creation of TAB Rail Road, a road freight transport company.
- 1978
- Jean-Claude Brunier takes over the leadership of the company.
- 1980
- Technical revolution with the introduction of the swap body. 100% of the TAB Rail Road fleet is equipped with swap bodies.
- 2000
- The Combined Rail-Road Transport specialist. Creation of T3M, Combined Rail-Road Transport operator.
- 2008
- T3M is among the first to obtain authorized candidate status. This status allows T3M to control train circulation quality and fully meet market demand.
- 2012
- An integrated group for sustainable transport. Creation of BTM, multimodal terminal operator.
- 2013
- Creation of the Open Modal Group, operational holding company.
- 2019
- Creation of COMBIRAIL, rail freight company.
- 2024
- Commissioning of the Terminal Ouest Provence in Miramas. A fully digitalized and decarbonized terminal operated by the Open Modal Group.
- 2025
- New governance
Antonin Brunier becomes President of the Group, and Clémence Brunier becomes Chief Executive Officer.
